Outreach Specialist - Overnight Shelter

Mid-November | Approximately 4-5 Months
Schedule: Overnight Shifts, approximately 6:00 PM-6:00 AM
Must be available for varying nights, including weekends

Hiring Hub is seeking dependable and compassionate Outreach Specialists to support shelter operations during the winter season.

Outreach Specialists help provide a safe, organized, and respectful environment for individuals utilizing overnight shelter services. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with people from a variety of backgrounds and can remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and check in individuals arriving at the shelter throughout the night

• Complete basic intake paperwork and maintain accurate records

• Assign cots, blankets, and other shelter supplies

• Distribute evening and morning meals

• Monitor shelter areas throughout the overnight shift

• Help maintain an orderly, respectful and safe environment

• Communicate concerns or incidents to supervisors and on-site security

• Follow established safety, emergency, and shelter procedures

• Assist with basic shelter setup, organization, and morning transition as needed

Qualifications

• Reliable and able to work overnight shifts, including weekends

• Comfortable interacting with individuals experiencing homelessness

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to remain calm and use good judgment during difficult or tense situations

• Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential

• Must complete required background screening; certain violent offenses may be disqualifying based on contract requirements and applicable law

• Must complete a pre-employment drug screen

De-escalation and position-specific training will be provided. Security officers are also present on site.

This is a temporary contract assignment expected to last approximately 4-5 months, beginning in mid-November.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
